Plastic is used with ease because their plasticity makes it possible to mold or press solid objects in various shapes. It is lightweight, durable, flexible, and inexpensive to produce. With a lot of pros, the major cons it has is that it doesn't degrade. It takes some nearly 100 decades for plastic to decompose.
